ABOUT BIORIZON BIOTECH
Biotechnology solutions for sustainable agriculture
Biorizon Biotech is a multinational biotechnology company based in Almeria (Spain), a world pioneer in the development and commercialisation of biostimulant and biopesticide products for agriculture based on microalgae and other microorganisms such as bacteria and plant extracts. It is the company that marketed the first international commercial biostimulant based on microalgae, ALGAFERT®. The values that drive this company; change, innovation and flexibility, are now essential to address the new environment and are reflected in the launch of innovative business lines and the strengthening of its production capacity. Its evolution in recent years has positioned it as one of the international benchmarks in the auxiliary industry in sustainable agriculture.
Agora Sabana, Europe's largest microalgae cultivation facility
One of the world's largest culture tanks, called raceways, is located in this facility. It is located in Almeria Spain, next to the University and was inaugurated in 2019. It is equipped with open raceway photobioreactors, bubbler columns and closed tubular photobioreactors, both horizontal and vertical.
The plant is fully monitored and automated, and the operating processes can be carried out with a minimum of personnel thanks to the control and management system, both for the operation of the photobioreactors and for the tasks of preparing and supplying the culture medium, as well as for harvesting. These facilities have not only allowed us to have a large production capacity in quality raw material, but also the unique possibility of cultivating our own specimens with specific characteristics for our products, so that the new varieties of biostimulants have the use of components that make them unique and non-replicable.
